About Big Body Beautiful

Thank you for visiting my blog. : ) As a happy co-creator with my lovely, round, and healthy body, a body that I have spent the last 51 years getting to know and loving deeply and profoundly, it’s long been an interest of mine to chronicle my experience with learning to love my form and hopefully, inspire others to do the same. We’re not victims of our bodies. Regardless of how we look, we create our physical form (and all of life) with our thoughts, our emanations. It’s time for us to recognize the powerful role we play in life and body creation and, for the betterment of all humankind, accept our physical creation regardless of size, shape, fitness, weight, tone, etc. Why? So we can find our way toward love. Anything less than love is less than us.

Lizzy_and_Zander

I didn’t always love and appreciate my body. Even when I was rail thin (anorexic-induced thin), I thought my body was just plain wrong and out to ruin my life. I was adversarial with her. I dominated her with four hours of exercise daily; I rarely ate. I hurled insults at her constantly and hated the way that I looked. The process of learning to love my body has been fraught with pain, doubt, anguish, fear, and finally, through lots of work, acceptance, love, and peace. I’m largely (ha, ha!) peaceful now and I truly love the way that I look and feel. I am healthy. I am strong. I can lift an 800+ pound motorcycle if I have to. That is what it’s all about.

So, in an effort to help other people, primarily women, understand on a deeper level the connection between thoughts and what we physically manifest by way of our bodies and lives, I offer this blog, a place for us to celebrate whatever we manifest, a place to praise all of us in all of our forms (whether big or small).

My name is Liz Casey. I’m a widely published freelance writer, size activist, co-creator, self-esteem promoter, and lover of the dialog between the body and consciousness. Professionally, I’m a 20-year Technical, copy, and creative writer. Hoh-boy, I write. Alot. I live with my husband of 23 years, an adorable cat, an equally delicious Harley-Davidson Street Glide CVO (yes, all mine), and about 1000 (actual, real) books.

Feel free to get in touch with me (there are lots of ways to do that):

And, if you’ve made it this far, here’s a photo of me at The AZ State HOG Rally from 2014. I was being a bit naughty with a boy named “Jack”. Honestly, it was my very first time drinking this particular form of strychnine. I will not be doing that again. LOL!

Last year I went and took the motorcycle training course and marked one item off my bucket list. The one right next to it–buy a motorcycle, hasn’t been marked off yet. Hopefully I can do that soon, and become the big bottomed biker babe I know I am!! 😉

Liz, I got so side-tracked this past week, and I apologize for taking so long to respond to your comment in my about page. I was thrilled to see you pop in, and even more thrilled that you are following my other blog, where I hope to get to know people better, and for people to get to know me, too. This is a fantastic ‘about page.’ You are such an eloquent writer.

Awww….Victoria! Thank you so much, honey-bunny. No problem about the wait for a reply. I know how busy this blogging thing and life keeps all of us. Your blogs are AMAZING, by the way! So much good stuff you have shared with all of us. So much to sink my teeth into and process. MMMMM….I love the human brain! I LOVE your writing, too and can’t wait to explore, get lost (happily) in it all, and come away changed. :)XOXO

Lizzy, I am touched by your thoughtful comment. Learning some things about the human brain answered a lot of my questions about life I hadn’t found until I started delving into the research. In other words, it was life changing and empowering. I also found solace and forgiveness because of it. So others may not see that in my first blog, as it tends to be research heavy, and less personal, but it’s very personal to me. I plan to write a post to tie together a good bit of the research I’ve posted thus far. I’m really just getting my feet wet in the writing department, and learning how to translate the research in my own words. But I’m also just getting comfortable with sharing on a more personal basis. Life is an adventure, and I’m sure now that our paths have crossed, my adventure will be heightened exponentially. 🙂

Love and hugs right back at cha. 🙂

Your heart, your abundant and lovely heart shows in whatever you touch and do, my friend. Your heart is totally evident in your research site as well as your personal site. So much feeling in what you do and offer. I love that you are exploring both sides and feeding both sides, the analytical and the feeling, in this way. We all benefit as a result of your efforts, you gorgeous human being. Keep it comin’!

I love your blog and applaud your attitude of compassion and acceptance of your physical body. I wish there was more of this loving message out there. Words that encourage to love and love ourselves rather than wanting to alter, change and reject our anatomies. Congratulations on your Blog!

      Andre,

Thank you so, so much for your beyond kind comments and visit to my blog. I love your blog, too! Seriously. You have such life and heart in your work, my friend. Keep it up!

In my philosophy, loving the self is the first step toward greater spiritual expansion and awareness. We humans have to learn that we are an integral part of a much bigger energy and plan here on earth. If we are largely fractured by self doubt, fear, and blind servitude to our minds, we cannot truly ever love others and act from a place of clarity and compassion. We cannot evolve from our current pettiness and disconnection to self-realization and connection with all that is here.

Love is all that matters. I will continue to spread the message and help other people as long as God/Goddess keeps me here doing it. It is absolutely my greatest pleasure to be used by universal-love in this way. So, your words are wonderful and I receive them in all of the fullness of your and my heart.

Your sister and friend, XOXO BigLizzy

Thank you for your beyond-kind comments, honey. It’s truly, truly such high praise coming from you. YOU are my idol.

I agree with you totally, of course. Loving the self/body is the first step, but merely the precursor to a deeper empathy for the world, for other humans and animals; what I love about this work, though, is exactly what you mention; it’s the beginning place. The place from which far greater things can be made manifest. It’s a delicious place to be and then to move on from toward even greater expansion.

If you want some delectable writing about my bike and riding (if I do say so myself), you might want to check out my Biker Babe Tours blog over here: http://bikerbabetours.wordpress.com/. That’s the moto touring company for women that I own and operate; though, you might notice that we’ve been in hiatus for about 6 months due to a slow season.

Perhaps, when we meet in Sedona and you climb onto the back of my huge-ass motorcycle, and we rip through the desert together, well, perhaps then you will feel (and know) it. So looking forward to it, my lovely friend. Hugs and kisses, Lizzy

You’ve been awarded the Dragon’s Loyalty Award. I know that not everyone accepts awards. If I’ve linked to you and you don’t want it, please don’t be annoyed with me, just take it as a sign of appreciation for what you do. You do not have to accept this or any other award. It is a compliment, not a curse!

Hi! Happy New Year!! I came across this title and thought of you – possibly your PBS/PTV station might air it

    Title: DRIVEN TO RIDE
Short Description: Since the 1870′s women have been DRIVEN TO RIDE…Two-wheeled vehicles gave women a first real taste of the wild thrill found in unfettered mobility. Victorian Age corsets and billowing skirts were set aside as riding unleashed the power hidden within and the freedom to give that power pursuit. Women continue to shape and push the boundaries of two-wheeled freedom. The call of the road stirs in their blood, a call they answer down a thousand Interstates, and black-tops, and dusty country roads. Highways and byways that sail past in the raw sweep of wide-open spaces. Women climb aboard and tear off — embracing the wild exhilaration of acceleration…Driven to Ride.

Rutabaga!!! Awesome, honey. Thank you so much for letting me know. I would love to see this documentary. I have a couple of books that are like that, too. One of the books shows photographs of women riders from the earliest days of motorcycle building. They were the true renegades of the time because it was considered hugely unfeminine and unladylike to ride. Hahahaa! We modern-day women owe so much to these pioneer biker chicks! Anyway, I’ll look for that film. Thanks again, sweetie! Vroooom!
